Gulab Jamun

Soft milk dumplings deep fried and soaked in a fragrant rose-cardamom syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • Milk as needed
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Cardamom and rose water

Steps

  1. Mix milk powder, flour, and baking soda with ghee and a little milk into a soft dough.
  2. Shape into smooth, crack-free balls.
  3. Boil sugar and water with cardamom into a syrup; keep warm.
  4. Deep fry the dough balls on low-medium heat until evenly golden brown.
  5. Soak the fried balls in warm syrup for at least 1 hour before serving.
