Khao Tom

A light, soothing Thai rice soup often eaten for breakfast with savory toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 4 cups chicken stock
  • 100g minced pork or shrimp
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • Ginger, julienned
  • Fried garlic and cilantro

Steps

  1. Bring stock to a boil and add minced pork or shrimp, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Add cooked rice and simmer until the soup is well combined and hot.
  3. Season with soy sauce to taste.
  4. Ladle into bowls and top with ginger, fried garlic, and cilantro.
  5. Serve hot with a side of chili sauce.
