Nasi Lemak

Malaysia's national dish of fragrant coconut rice served with sambal and fried anchovies.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 pandan leaves
  • 1/2 cup fried anchovies and peanuts
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs
  • Cucumber slices
  • Sambal sauce

Steps

  1. Cook rice with coconut milk and pandan leaves until fluffy and fragrant.
  2. Fry anchovies and peanuts until crisp.
  3. Prepare or warm the sambal sauce.
  4. Plate the coconut rice with hard-boiled egg halves and cucumber slices.
  5. Top with fried anchovies, peanuts, and a generous spoonful of sambal.
