Natto Rice Bowl

Fermented soybeans served over warm rice, a beloved Japanese breakfast staple.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack natto
  • 1 bowl warm steamed rice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1 scallion, chopped
  • 1 raw egg yolk (optional)

Steps

  1. Stir natto vigorously with soy sauce and mustard until sticky and stringy.
  2. Spoon natto over a bowl of warm rice.
  3. Top with chopped scallion and a raw egg yolk if desired.
  4. Mix everything together just before eating.
