Poha

A light, savory Indian breakfast of flattened rice tossed with mustard seeds and peanuts.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flattened rice (poha)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • Curry leaves
  • Lime juice and cilantro

Steps

  1. Rinse poha briefly in a sieve until softened, then drain well.
  2. Fry peanuts in oil until crisp, then set aside.
  3. Saute mustard seeds, curry leaves, and onion until softened.
  4. Add turmeric and poha, tossing gently to combine and heat through.
  5. Stir in peanuts, lime juice, and cilantro before serving.
