Som Tam
A spicy, tangy green papaya salad pounded with chili, lime, and fish sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded green papaya
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 2 tbsp dried shrimp
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 Thai chilies
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp palm sugar
Steps
- Pound garlic and chilies in a mortar until coarsely crushed.
- Add tomatoes and dried shrimp, lightly bruising them.
- Add shredded papaya and pound gently while mixing.
- Season with fish sauce, lime juice, and palm sugar, tossing well.
- Serve immediately with sticky rice or fresh vegetables.
